Create Your Own Adventure with Adobe Spark Post
How many of you remember reading the Choose Your Own Adventure series of books? I know I just aged myself with that question. Lol!Those were some of my favorite books to read. It was the sense of having control of the protagonist journey that intrigued me to read. Choosing the next steps in the story was a powerful motivator!So it got me thinking. There has to be a way I can recreate the “Choose Your Own Adventure” genre in a platform that all students can access and add their own voice and choice. The answer was one of my favorite tools - Adobe Spark Post.If you have not used Adobe Spark Post, it’s easy! Instead, were going to be Creating Our Own Adventure. To begin, think of a genre and locate images. For this example, I’m going to choose sci-fi thriller. Side note, that is one of my favorite genres of all! Important note, you will need to do this an iOS device. I’ll explain why shortly. Here's the process I used for creating my own adventure:
- Launch Adobe Spark Post on my iPhone
- Search for an image that looks sci-fyish (is that a word?)
- Add text my story that leaves it open-ended for someone else to pick up
- Modify text using different tools (Fonts, Shapes, Effects, Size, etc.)
- Click Share to Save the image to my camera roll

Create Your Own Adventure Part 2
Now it’s time to pass it along for someone to “Choose” or continue the next adventure.
- Click the Share button in the upper right corner
- Choose “Create remixable copy” from the options
- Copy link (done automatically)
Adobe Spark Post generates the Post and creates a remixable link that I can share. As I mentioned earlier, this option is only available in the iOS version of Spark Post. I believe it’s in the works for Android devices.[smartslider3 slider=16]
Create Your Own Adventure Part 3
Now, that I have the link available, I’m going to pass it along to someone else to edit the Post. I can either share it via Google Classroom, text or other options.
- Open the remixable link
- Click on the button labeled Remix this design
- Select Open Spark Post
- Then click Remix
- Edit the design and add new text
- Click the Share button in the upper right corner
- Save the Image to the camera roll

- Click the Share button in the upper right corner
- Choose “Create remixable copy” from the options
- Copy link (done automatically)
[smartslider3 slider=18]I would keep repeating the process until I have a complete story created by multiple students. Basically, you'll be repeating Part 3 until you get to the end of the sotry. It's great way to incorporate creative writing and student choice.Here's how my final story looks like.
